IMMIGRATION

Sir, —At a time when the politicians of both parties are declaring that our security depends on the increase in population; it is reasonable to draw attention to the fallacies and dangers of the immigration policy as launched by the Labour,Socialists; and still in existence. It is obvious that the hundreds of New Zealanders who are invading our cities and towns will make little or no appreciable difference to this nation to defend itself. I am not denying that it may be most desirable that our population be increased by a number of suitable migrants; preferably Anglo-Saxon. But to flood the country with all types can only lead to disaster. Fears that the present immigration policy could easily be the forerunner of industrial conscription! When the National Party was in opposition many of its rank and file supporters expressed the same opinion. Up-rooting populations from* their native homes and pushing them around appears essential! A rootless people are more easily manipulated than a stable people. ■lhe large scale example of immigration provided by the United States is not convincing. If this country is to be held for the British way of life, we must insure that/ We maintain a predominantly Anglo Saxon population loyal to British traditions.

Yours etc., W. BRADSHAW
