Telephones Wanted For Rural Areas
Wellington, this day,
The Dominion Council of Federated Farmers resolved recently that the Post and Telegraph Department should be asked to provide more telephones in rural areas. When this resolution was conveyed to the Postmaster-General, Mr W. J. Broadfoot, he said that the Government was fully appreciative of the need for giving high priority to the work of providing more rural telephone exchange connections. The Federation could be assured, he said, that the Post Office was doing everything possible in the limits of labour and materials available to improve telephone facilities for country people.
