KEEN SHOOTING FOR TABLE MAT TROPHIES
Shooting consistently well J. Dahl and Mrs R. Hunter were the Winners of the novelty walking shoot for table mat trophies of the Whakatane Archery Club on/ Saturday. Competition was keen throughout. Following this a practice clout shoot was held at 60 yards Scores:'—
J. Dahl 186, Ray Hunter 171, Mrs R. Hunter 141, Mrs F. Hunter 30, A. Atkinson 76, P. Rivett 60. J. Dickson 46.
FRIENDLY RUGBY GAMES Playing their first game of the year United had a win and a loss against Edgecumbe in friendly rugby matches on Saturday at Edgecumbe. In the junior game United won 6-3 but in the seniors the strong home team took the game to beat United 14-3.
The previous week Wairaka played their first game of the season against Opotiki Maori Players and were defeated 10-3.
