“Ground” Grip Motor Tyres May Soon Be In Use In Country

Consideration will be given to applications from regular importers for licences to import “ground grip” motor tyres provided delivery can be obtained within the next three months, a Customs Department memorandum announces.

“Ground grip” tyres were introduced into New Zealand as standard equipment on/ American Army vehicles.

When surplus vehicles were sold, most buyers sought to change the tyres, a representative of a tyre importing firm said recently. Small quantities, however, could be used in New Zealand, such as for timber haulage in winter conditions. Some farmers, too, sought them for heavy work. / !
