Bay Union Changes Age & Weight Limits For Junior Players

As a result of a remit from the Whakat&ne Sub-Union the weight and age limits of junior players for representative teams have now been changed. This was decided at the annual meeting of the. Bay of Plenty Rugby Union when the age limit was raised to 23 years of age and the weight limits increased by seven pounds to 12 stone 71bs, except for junior players under 18, who may play at any weight. This means that players are eligible for Shalfoon Shield games up to the age of 23 as long as they weigh less than 12 stone seven pounds on the day of the match. Once a player turns 23 he is no longer eligible.
