Council Meeting Is Discussed By The Taneatua W.I.
The well-attended monthly meeting of the Taneatua Women’s Institute was presided over by Mrs L. Grey. Remits for the forthcoming Council meeting were discussed and Mrs J. Hayward and Mrs H. J. Frost were appointed delegates. Afternoon tea arrangements for the Paddy’s Market to be held by the War Memorial Committee were finalised.
The Golden Thread was read by Mrs R. McGougan and this was followed by a most interesting and amusing talk by Mrs G. Santon. She told of a war-time trip to the Holy Land while serving as an Army nursing sister, the means of hitch hiking, transport varying in true Army style from an Army truck to a bomber on submarinespotting operations over the Mediterranean.
An amusing sketch “Anything Will Do” was presented by the Drama Circle.
The hostesses, Mesdames K. Allen, J. Butler, G. Bennett, A. McDonald, K. Tebbutt then served supper. Competition results:—
