Red Cross Week Is To Be Held In May , Bay Centre Decides
Members of five of the six subcentres of the Eastern Bay of Plenty Red Cross Centre visited Tauranga last week to attend the Regional Conference held by the Western Bay Centre. The Dominion Chairman, Mr A. E. Gibbons, was present and a full and varied discussion of Red Cross matters took place. ■ c During the meeting plans were discussed for the initiation of “Red Cross Week” next month. This is to be on a Dominion scale, and the Society hopes that in time it may become international. May was chosen as May 8 is the birthday of Henn Dunant, founder of Red Cross, and of another person closely linked with Red Cross aims— Florence Nightingale.
