Thornton Couple Celebrate Silver Wedding Anniversary

Friends of Mr and Mrs A. Baldock, Thornton, gave a surprise party last Saturday night in honour ■of their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. A delicious buffet supper was served after which speeches were given by Mr W. Mear, Rotorua, Mr H. C. Phillips, Mr J. Proffitt, and Mr H. Hanright, wishing the happy couple many more years of happiness. - Mr Baldock replied. Mr S. Martin, acting as M.C., presented the guests of honour with a silver tea service from the Baldock family, and several other gifts we.e received from friends. The ‘bride •and groom’ cut the beautifully iced and decorated cake amid cheers.

The enjoyable evening continued with games and dancing.
