Rangitaiki Schools Hold Triangular Sports Contest

Because of unsatisfactory weather the Rangitaiki Combined School Sports, which were to take place last week had to be postponed, but during the afternoon the pupils of Awakeri and Thornton Schools met Edgecumbe in a triangular games contest. Team results:—

Senior Grade: Corner Spry, Awakeri A 1, Edgecumbe A 2, Awakeri B 3; Awakeri C 1, Edgecumbe D 2, Awakeri D 3; Awakeri E 1, Edgecumbe G 2, Edgecumbe F 3. Overhead Ball, Edgecumbe A 1, Thornton A 2, Awakeri A 3; Edgecumbe C 1, Edgecumbe D 2, Awakeri C 3. Tunnel Ball, Awakeri A 1, Edgecumbe A 2, Edgecumbe B 3. Time Ball, Edgecumbe B 1, Edgecumbe A 2, Awakeri A 3; Awakeri C 1, Edgecumbe E 2, Edgecumbe D 3; Awakeri E 1, Thornton A 2, Edgecumbe D 3.

In the junior grade Thornton A won twice, Awakeri and Edgecumbe had one win each.

Championships: Edgecumbe A team were the victors in each of the four team games. The relay was won by the Awakeri team.

100yds. sprint for boys was won by T. Bagley (Edgecumbe), Gavin Parkinson and Arthur Shaw (both of Awakeri) filled second and third places respectively. The girls 75yds was won by Elizabeth White (Awakeri), Georgin Olsen (Edgecumbe) was second and Marion Ratahi (Awakeri) was third. The marathon was won by Len Mah.y (Awakeri).
