HIGH SEAS MAR OHOPE MEETING

Although conditions were otherwise fair high seas and a fast incoming tide interfered with the Bay of Plenty Motor Cycle Club’s beach meeting at Ohope on Saturday to such an extent that three races had to be cancelled and no attempt could be made on the beach record. There was a fair crowd, who were entertained to some spectacular riding by both local and visiting competitors. While Whakatane entrants finished well up with the leaders the most successful rider was W. Gray, Rotorua, who had three firsts and one third. Results:—

Local handicap, 4 miles: L. Simpson 1, C. Trueman 2, F. Cameron 3. Ohope handicap, open class, • 6. miles: A. Marsh I, Simpson 2, Cameron 3.

Bay of Plenty scratch, 6 miles: W. Gray (Rotorua) 1, A. Marsh 2. Hillcrest handicap, 6 miles: Gray 1, J. Marsh 2, Trueman 3. Ohiwa handicap, 6 miles: Gray 1, E. McCabe (Hamilton) 2, A. Marsh 3.

President’s handicap: McCabe 1, M. Andrews 2, Gray 3.
