Awakeri School Teacher Farewelled By Large Gathering
A large number of parents gathered at the Awakeri School last week to farewell Mrs S. C. Hammond, who has been appointed o a position at the Whakatane Primary School. The chairman, Mr E. C. Haultain, on behalf of the parents and pupils presented Mrs Hammond with a handsome china cabinet and an encyclopedia for Master John Hammond. '
The Country Library Service subscribers showed their appreciation with the gift of a book.
Mr E. G. Anderson, headmaster, also paid tribute to Mrs Hammond emphasising her loyalty and untiring help at all times. To Mrs Hammond, Mr Henderson, her father and John he extended the good wishes of all assembled. He aptly expressed the feelings of the young pupils who have passed through her hands during the last three years when she was a loved infant mistress. Mrs Hammond replied..
