REPERTORY THEATRE TO BE FORMED IN TOWN
A decision that those present should • constitute the foundation members of the repertory theatre movement was reached by a large and enthusiastic meeting at Whakatane on Wednesday night, called to discuss the possibility of forming a repertory theatre in the town. It was decided to go ahead and form the society. An interim “Ways and Means” comfnittee was appointed to bring down to a general meeting, to be held later this month, a proposed constitution; a suggested programme of plays and productions; and such incidental matters as a permanent home for the theatre, special lectures to members, members evenings to be held regularly, equipment to be made or obtained and finance.
It was stressed at this meeting that in a Repertory Movement such as was proposed there was boom for everyone of every occupation.
