County Council Asked To Hold Poll On Hotel Proposal

During the large public meeting a*., Edgecumbe called to discuss the possible establishment of a trust hotel in the district the full discussions finally resulted in a request being made to the Whakatane County Council to ask permission to hold a poll on the subject. The full text of the motion was:— “That the Whakatane County Council be requested to apply to the Licensing Commission for authority'to hold a poll of those within the prescribed Edgecumbe Patriotic area on the question of the district’s wish for a trust hotel and if necessary the Licensing Committee be requested by the council to defer the granting of a license until the result of this poll can be known.”
