SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNEY Hockey clubs will have a fine opportunity to swing into action before the main competitions at the seven-a-side tournament to be held at Taneatua tomorrow. Good entries are expected and it is thought that most clubs will be represented. This will be the main sporting attraction at Taneatua over the week-end. MAORI TOURNAMENT Maori hockey clubs affiliated to the Central Bay of Plenty Association will Have an opportunity to try out their paces for the coming season at the tournament to be held at the Te Teko Domain on Sunday. Some big entries are expected from a number of the clubs. Competition will be for the Poroporo Cups, which are competed for annually. WHAKATANE TEAMS
The following are the Whakatane hockey teams to play at Taneatua tomorrow, bus to leave Domain at 8.45 a.m.: —Women: E. Chamberlain, N. Moore, M. Kelly, P. Thompson, I. Irimako, P. 'W. Thompson, H. Archer. Men: N. Rigden, R. Cox, P. Hammond, B. Waller, G. Howard, J. Hunter, Hollis, Kora, Tai, Thompson, Rueben, P. and B. Agnew, Hitchens, Flay, P. Baker, R. Gillard, Love, Fitzsimmons.
TENNIS CONCLUDING
The tennis season will close for Whakatane players tomorrow when the Whakatane Club will hold a match, in which will be included all players. The club has had a good season and an .improvement has been noticed in the general run of play. During the year the club played several representative matches and in the final result had won most of the games played.
