POLL TO BE HELD TO ELECT A NEW SCHOOL COMMITTEE
Ten nominations haye been received by Mr L. D. Lovelock, chairman of the Whakatane School Committee for the nine seats on the committee for the coming two years. As there is one more than the required number a ballot is to be held of a meeting of householders, which is to be held at the school on Wednesday at 7.30 p.m.
Of the ten nominated six are members of the present committee and are seeking re-election. Two members of the committee, Mr Lovelock and Dr A. W. Fletchei’Cole, are not offering themselves for re-election.
The vacancy caused on the committee earlier this year by the transfer of Mr E. H. Morice to Gisborne has not yet been filled but the position will be corrected at next week’s poll.
The names of the candidates nominated are:—
Messrs F. G. Cutler, J. H. Duthie, Te H. Ferguson, B. A. Watts and Mesdames J. D. Dallas and M. S. Wilson, all of whom are present members. The other nominations are Messrs K. Francis and A. L. Kilgour, Beverend W. C. . Jenkin and Mrs M. J. Metcalfe.
