NORTH ISLAND EVENT NOT FOR WHAKATANE

Because of a mistake by the New Zealand Auto-Cycle Union in their allocation of -championship events, the Bay of Plenty Motor Cycle Club will not be holding the North Island Championship 500 c.c. Grass Hill Climb at Whakatane. This event has been held by the Hamilton Club and was won by J. Dale on his Matchless Springen. The position has been clarified by Mr A. McLaren, president of the Union, who said that an error had been made in the allotting of the Road Hill Climb and the Grass Hill Climb to the Bay of Plenty Club.

However, now that the season is finished for road racing and short circuit events, there is nothing to prevent the Bay of Plenty Club holding a Bay of Plenty Championship Grass Hill Climb. This, the Club may do yet. At present the suggested beach meeting is being organised for Saturday at Ohope where high speeds should be attained.
