Foundation Member Is Honoured By Gladiolus Society
Attention to the fact that Mr H. J. Ryde, a foundation member and past Patron and President, had a day or two previous celebrated his eightieth birthday, was mentioned by the president, Mr F. P. McCallion, at the annual meeting of the Whakatane Gladiolus Society. On behalf of members he extended to Mr Ryde all good wishes. Mr P. Hodson referred to the good work Mr Ryde had rendered the Society. After the meeting Mr and Mrs Ryde were the guests of honour at a delicious supper served by the women members. , Officers elected:— Patron, Mr P. Farnworth; president, Mr F. P. McCall ion; vice-pre-sidents, Mesdames Trindall, Ryde, ft. Whittle, I S. S. Shapley, Dillicar, P Farnworth, Miss A. Black, Messrs P. Coutts, L. Richards, H. J. Ryde, P. G. R. Hodson, R. Trindall and G. V. Powley; non. secretary-trea-surer. Mr W. E. Stringer; hon. auditor, Mr T. Hall; Committee, Mesdames Trindall, Farnworth; Fennell, Murphy, Messrs Hodson. Trindail.
