SEASON AND LIMIT BAGS FOR BIRDS IN BAY OF PLENTY
Conditions governing the shooting of game in the Bay of Plenty during the shooting seasan from May 13 to July 9 have been received by the president of the Whakatane County Rod and Gun Club, Mr J. D. Rivett. The season and bag limits for various birds are given and, Mr Rivett points out, it is in the best interests of sportsmen and the sport that the conditions are adhered to by everyone. The longest seasan is from May 13 to July 9 for cock pheasants, Australian and Californian quail. The bag limit for the pheasant is six. Referring to these birds Mr Rivett said the season from present indications looked like being a good one, especially for pheasants, which had increased considerably since the number had been released after they had been raised by private breeders. For other birds, grey mallard, fcpoonbill and paradise duck, pukeko and black swan the season is frqfn May 13 until June 4. In each case the limit bags vary and should be noted by sportsmen. The limits are for paradise duck five, pukeko -20, grey and spoonbill duck ten head in all, grey mallard and spoonbill duck 15 head in all. There is no limit for either black swan and quail. ■
