Doctors Add Three New Pledges To Oath
The World Medical Association, with members in 24 countries, is determined that atrocity experiments carried out in Nazi Germany will never be repeated. At a meeting in London three pledges were added to the Hippocratic oath:
Doctors will not allow religion, race or politics to come between them and the treatment of patients. Doctors will respect, at every instance, human life from’ the moj ment of its conception. Even under threats, doctors will not use medical knowledge, con-
trary to common standards of humanity.
