A CORRECTION
Sir, —May I correct some remarks attributed to me in your article on the Trust'hotel for Edgecumbe.
The Edgecumbe Progressive Association first discussed the question over three months ago. Since then numerous inquiries have been made but as we were up to six weeks receiving answers to our en- x quiries, which proved fruitless, considerable delay has been caused. As a result our delegation had to approach the Whakatane County Council before calling a public meeting to place everything before the public for their consideration first.
Whilst we are not unanimous that a Trust Hotel is to be preferred to the usual type, we are unanimous that the matter is one that requires careful consideration by the public as a whole. It is for them to registed their opinions per the ballot box. After all relevant facts have been placed before them and duly considered. The expression of opinion on the benefits to be conferred on the Rangitaiki area as a whole by the establishment of a Trust Hotel gt Edgecumbe are my own personally an'd not as chairman of the Progressive Association.
