Immigrants For N.Z. Are Bringing Their Own Accommodation
A copy of a recent English Sunday newspaper received at Galatea carries an article about a colony of “snails” which is to come out to New Zealand. These are very unusual “snails”, however, being 1200 immigrants and l their families who are bringing their own > prefabricated houses with them. They are coming to help fill the gaps in the postal and broadcasting services. It is stated that Mr Walter Broadfoot, New Zealand Postmaster-General, is already working out the details with the Minister of Immigration and that the thousands of tons of shipping space necessary for the sectional buildings have already been booked.
This would seem to be a very good way of bringing out the nedeed labour without adding more strain to the already overtaxed housing situation. , \
