Large 21b Tomato Grown At Whakatane

A claim for the heaviest tomato yet grown at Whakatane this year has been made by Willowbank Nurseries who sent five large 'specimens of the fruit they are now marketing into the Beacon yesterday for inspection. And they were large too.

Then there were four others about the same size weighing lib 6ozs, 11b sozs and two lib 4ozs each. All these fruit were off one plant. According to the gardener who grew them the tomatoes are averaging in weight from 15 to 201bs a plant.
