UNITED TO DEFEND HARD CHALLENGE United, the holders of the Williams Cup, will defend the trophy against third challenge for the season when they meet Woodlands, Opotiki, at Whakatane tomorrow. Both clubs have selected strong teams and some good cricket is expected. Play is to commence at 10 a.m. The Whakatane Association’s competition for the Collins Shield was completed last week and resulted in a narrow win for Edgecumbe with 12 points from P. and T. with ten. T,hen followed Taneatua eight and Waimana six points in that order.
On Sunday the four teams will continue the season in a knockout competition. The first games have drawn Waimana to play Edgecumbe at Waimana and Taneatua to play P. and T. at Taneatua. WEEK-END TEAMS United cricket team to play tomorrow, players to be on ground at 9 a.m.:—
