Pa Grass Fire

An extensive grass fire that could have been serious was caught just in time by the Whakatane Volunteer Fire Brigade in the Pa area, Whakatane, at about 11.30 a.m. yesterday and extinguished with hoses and buckets by members of the brigade and nearby residents. The fire is believed to have been started from a small fire, which had been lit by a resident to burn rubbish.
