ELECTORS URGED TO VOTE AT THE LICENSING POLL
The procedure to be followed by electors when, they go to the Licensing poll bn Tuesday will be the same as that adopted at the General Election. Ten names have been nominated for the Bay of Plenty district and electors will be required to vote for five. In this case they may vbte for any number up to five, but not more. ' For those people who live comparatively near the polling booths it is going to be a comparatively easy task to go and vote, either at the Courthouse at Whakatane, the Presbyterian Hall at Edgecumbe, or the hall at Taneatua. For those who live more than two miles away it is going to be slightly different, but not 'any more difficult.
In those areas where there are booths electors may cast their vote by post. The procedure to follow will be to write to the registrar of the Licensing Poll at the Rotorua Courthouse for the voting papers. When received these should be filled in and then sent back either to the registrar or to the nearest polling booth, where they must be received not later than 7 p.m. on Tuesday. j
Those who are entitled to vote are those people who l are registered on the electoral roll or who have turned 21 since (the General Election and registered by February. One point not generally known about this election is that the cost is being born by local bodies. In this case it will be the Borough and County Councils in the Bay of Plenty Licensing area.
Because of the unusual features to be faced by the new, Licensing Committee in the allocation" of the licenses for the district all electors in the Bay of Plenty area are being urged to attend the polls and cast their votes.
