Restrictions Placed On Bay Ports

Regulations defining the limits for the Whakatane and other New Zgaland ports have been issued by the Marine Department. The restrictions place a limit for steamships, sailing ships and any ships propelled by any mechanical power other than steam. These dealing with the Whakatane, Ohiwa and Opotiki ports are:—

Whakatane: 1. Inside the bar of the Whakatane River. 2. Inside a line extending 45 degrees for 7.5 miles from the western point of the River batata outlet and thence direct to Opape Pt. 3. Nil.

Ohiwa: 1. Inside the bar of the Ohiwa River. 2. Between the new outlet of Rangitaiki river and Opape / Pt., including Whale Island and Rurima Rocks.

Opotiki: 1. Inside the bar of the Opotiki River. 2. Between the new outlet of Rangitaiki River and Opape Pt., including Whale Island and Rurima Rocks. 3. Between Cape Runaway and Motiti Island.
