Earthquake Cracks Concrete Floor In Galatea Cow Shed

An earth tremor was felt in Gal- : atea and Murupara last Tuesday morning at about 7 a.m. In some places it was almost imperceptible but in other places it was felt very strongly. The tremor lasted for several seconds and in the places where it was not strongly felt it was accompanied by a loud rumble. Belts were thrown off in one milking shed and the concrete floor was cracked whilst mirrors and ornaments, were moved in one house.

Since this tremor water has been running in the “Wash” which previously had been quite dry/for several days but it is not yet known whether this flow has been caused by the action of the tremor.
