Fire Hazard In Visiting Circuses

Concern at the apparent lack of any fire regulations to cover circuses on tour in the district was referred to by the chairman, Mr J. L. Burnett, to the monthly meeting of the Whakatane County Council yesterday. He. mentioned the recent visit of a circus to Taneatua where it had been estimated that 3,000 people had ben packed into main tent. He had been present and had been struck by the possible serious fire hazard.

e> Although there were no similar fire restrictions governing a circus like a picture theatre it was explained that such visiting shows were covered by the county bylaws.
