Fifty Newspapers Now Published In New Zealand
There are now 212 daily, triweekly, bi-weekly, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly - and annual newspapers, periodicals and magazines published in New Zealand, according to the latest issue of the Newspaper Press Directory. 13 Tri-Weeklies Exactly 50 newspapers are published daily in the Dominion. There are 13 newspapers published three times a week, 18 published twice a week, and 35 published weekly. The most numerous are monthly publications, of which 75 are published. There are four quarterlies, and nine publications are printed once a year.
Wellington has the greatest number of publications. It is the only town with three daily newspapers. There are eight weekly magazines and newspapers, including Government publications, and 41 magazines and periodicals published monthly. The weekly and monthly magazines cater for nearly all activities, their subjects ranging from law reports, motion pictures, sports, economics, pond-keeping, horology and composting. A number are official organs of the various churches in New Zealand. Most of the annual publications are directories.
