Young Edgecumbe Man Missing
Chesley Lachlan Brooks, labourer at the State Hydro-Elec-tric Department’s sub-station at Edgecumbe, is also reported missing. He was last seen in Grieve’s Road about 10 a.m. Monday close to Mr Hodson’s car, which was standing in scrub on the roadside. Brooks is reported to have left his’hut about 4 a.m. Monday carrying a .303 rifle and ammunition. His workmates thought he was going for a day’s shooting. He has not come back yet. Police are anxious to locate the missing man as they think he might be able to give valuable assistance. Brooks is an Englishman aged 21, about 5 feet 9ins in height, weighing 11 stone, has good shoulders, long wavy brown hair, a full face, excellent natural teeth and generally handsome appearance. When last seen he was wearing a dark suit. -v
