Labour Conference April 18 has been fixed as the date for the opening of the annual conference of the New Zealand Federation of Labour in Wellington. The conference usually lasts four days, states a Wellington message.

Niue Stamps Postponed The first day of issue, of the new series of Niue pictorial postage stamps, previously given as May 1, has been postponed to June 1. Because of shipping delays, the stamps will not arrive in Niue as early as was expected.

High School Roll Although an increase in the roll is expected from this week the present roll of the Whakatane High School now stands at 313, according to figures supplied by the principle, Mr I. McHarg. The school is now beginning to settle down in to the new year under its raised status from a district high school.

Speedboat Racing Races for three major speedboat trophies, including the Griffiths Cup, unlimited speedboat championship of Australia will be decided on Wellington Harbour this month 1 , and early next month. The Griffiths Cup will be raced for on February 18, and the Moult Gold Cup on February 25, and the Masport Gold Cup, the New Zealand championship, on March 4.

Dutch Farm Workers With a further batch of Dutch farm workers expected in New Zealand from Holland and Indonesia within the next few weeks Bay of Plenty farmers requiring such labour are being asked to make their applications now. Already six Dutch workers have been employed by Bay of Plenty farmers and are reported to be making good progress. Most of them have now settled down comfortably. »
