Thornton Wins Debate With Awakeri Y.F.C.
The Thornton Young Farmers’ debating team scored a very narrow win over Awakeri by a margin ol three points in a closely contested debate held in the Awakeri hall. The subject “That increased production from all forms of. animals can be more surely obtained by improved breeding rather than by improved feeding.”
Awakeri which had the affirmative comprised Bruce Mundy (leader), Jim Barr and Stuart Luttrell, while Thornton as the negative had Harry Fisher (leader), Platt Gow and Mick Colloney. The adjudicator was Mr W. Carter, Awakeri.
