Shortage Of Class Rooms & Teachers At Primary School

So badly is extra class room accommodation wanted at the Whaikatane Primary School that at the

present time one class of about 40

children is being housed in an I drmy marquee in the grounds. An-

other class is being taught in a

building most unsuitable for teach- / ing purposes. According to the headmaster, Mr A. H. Fryer-ljlaisher, it is so bad that it is known as the

■“morgue.” These arrangements although far from satisfactory had to be made because the school is just two class rooms short, Mr Fryer-Raisher said. Every effort was being made to obtain more class rooms. Besides the lack of space the school is also suffering a shortage on the teaching staff where there are now four relieving teachers assisting in the meantime. At present the school has a (Shortage on the staff of five teachers.
