Happy Crowd At “Hard-Up” Dance
A happy crowd gathered in the Galatea School on Friday night when a'“Hard-Up” Dance was held in order to raise funds for the new hall. Judging from some of the costumes, strangers entering the place might have thought the residents of the district were verging on bankruptcy, never mind being “hard up.”
Mr and Mrs Nettleton were the winners of the'spot waltz and the winners of the hilarious Monte Carlo were Mrs Gehr and Mr O. Heard. (The less said about the prizes the better.) . A Grand Parade of the get-ups was held before supper, and they were judged by Mr J. Wilson and Mr A. V. Payne. Mrs F. Walsh and Mr Robert Moki were awarded the prizes for being the most hard-up. Music was provided by Mr M. Jackson at the piano and Mr E. Hill with his guitar. Mr Hill also acted as M.C.
