County Building By-Laws Flouted
For building a temporary bach at Edgecumbe without first obtaining a permit from the county building inspector Kenneth Murray (Mr Buddie) taxi driver, Edgecumbe, was fined £5, costs £1 11s, by Mr E. L. Walton, S.M., at Whakatane yesterday. Mr Buddie said accused had recently acquired a taxi business at Edgecumbe but had no place to live and had then erected the building.
Appearing for the building inspector Mr Chappell said that the bach had been erected in a brick area on August 31, 1949, without the sanction of the inspector. Previously a permit had been applied for but had been refused.
