CHALLENGE GAME FOR WILLIAMS CUP There will be no cricket matches at Whakatane during the week-end although both town clubs have games. United has challenged Te Puke for the Williams Cup and will play this game at Te Puke tomorrow. This follows last year’s unsuccessful challenges. On Sunday the usual competition games carry on the second round with Edgecumbe playing Taneatua at Edgecumbe and P. and T. meeting Waimana at Waimana. Cricket Teams The Te Puke cricket team to defend the Williams Cup against the challengers, United (Whakatane) tomorrow, commencing at 10 a.m. sharp is:— G. Stapleton, D. Searle, E. Capon, N. Valder, R. Allen, K. Ball, S. Masters, I. Farquhar, D. Hook, Don Dunlop, G. Smith and Doug Dunlop (12th man). United to play Te Puke' tomorrow, players to be at Mr N. Rigden’s residence at 8 a.m.:— L. R. Spring, N. E. Rigden, M. F. Le Pine, W. J. McKenzie, D. Bull, J. Yates, W. Alexander, W. Kirk, D. Knightsbridge, D. Carling, W. Crawford. P. and T. to play Waimana on Srtnday all players to be at the pavilion at 8.30 a.m.:— J. B. Rivett, F. Paton, E. Malaquin, S. Shapley, W. D. Rivett, D. McKenzie, P. Seebeck, P. Te Naiti, F. Witcher, D. Littlejohn, R. Kelly, K. Burt, R. Jones. Any player not available please contact W. D. Rivett.
