ENGLISH HAVE SECOND WIND OF FOG
Just after the Dunkirk evacuation, a foreign Ambassador said to Sir Robert Bruce Lockhart: “This will mean the end of Britain.” • “Your Excellency, you are mistaken,” replied Sir Robert. “As I am a Scot, may I give you a sound tip—the English are never more dangerous than when they seem at their last grip, It’s the fog that does it. Anyone who can breathe in the English climate has a second wind that lasts forever.”
