Successful Sale At Matarau Station: Good Cattle Prices
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd., report haying held in conjunction, with Williams and Kettle Ltd. a most successful sale of live and dead stock at Matarau Station, Hicks Bay, on Wednesday. The complete line of sundries, implements and stock was auctioned to a large and representative bench of buyers, from as far away as Gisborne and Waikato districts. Plant, machinery etc. sold readily and realisations compared favourably with standard market prices; The demand for both sheep and cattle was good and bidding was keen throughout. Plant, machinery, and sundries sold in the morning and the sale of live stock started after lunch:— Live stock price range:— Sheep, 2th wethers 325, 2th ewes 50s, 4th ewes 49s 9d, 6th ewes 49s Id, 4 year ewes 44s 2d, 5 year ewes 365, ewe lambs (tops) 32s Id, medium 28s, small 20s, wether lambs 24s 6d to 255, small 15s to 225. Hereford cattle: 1 year heifers £9 ss, 2 year £l2, 1 year steers £lO 2s 6d, 2 vear £l4 10s, 3 year cows and calves £l6 to £l6 17s 6d, aged cows and calves £l2 ss. Stud Herefords: Heifers £lO, 3 year heifers and calves £ls ss, 1 Kirkpatrick bull 12gns, yearling bulls 12 h to 20gns.
