DISTRICT PONY CLUB SENDING RIDERS AFIELD
Riders from the Whakatane District Pony Club’s White Pine Bush and Matata branches (and possibly from Te Teko and Whakatane as well) will take part in a Pony Club Gymkhana at Tauranga tomorrow. This will be the first time that district riders have competed in an outside Pony Club gymkhana, and the experience gained should prove valuable when they come back.
It is expected that the Pony Club Gymkhana here on January 14 will draw entries from Tauranga and Waikato Clubs, as well as strong teams from all the branches in this district. Enthusiasm is undoubtedly mounting, and the young riders have been putting in a lot of practice.
Mr M. Bell, donor of the Cup for the dressage test this year, has offered a large shield for next year’s gymkhana, and this has been gratefully accepted. It was pointed out at a recent committee meeting that entrants for the events on January 14 had to be financial Pony Club members, and delegates were asked to remind branch members that 1950 subscriptions are now du^'
