Waimana W.I. Food Parcels Appreciated
This month’s W.I. meeting was presided over by Mrs Hewitt. The parcels sent to the Kelsby W. 1., England, containing soap and dried fruits, were gratefully acknowledged and a most interesting travel talk on the west Coast, sounds and glaciers of the South Island, was given by Mrs J. Mitchell. A group of carols were sung by 12 girls from the Waimana school, Mrs Potter playing the music. The judges for the competitions were Mrs J. Wardlaw and Mrs ChapmanSmith. Results:—
Best single bloom, Mrs J. Mitchell 1, Mrs Hewitt 2, Mrs M. King 3; best multiple bloom, Miss Stevens 1, Mrs L. Robertson 2, Mrs Stevenson 3; best vegetable, Mrs King 1, Mrs Robertson 2, Mrs F. Bell 3; Xmas novelty, Mrs Hewitt 1, Mrs Bettleheim 2, Mrs F. Bell 3; vase of roses, Mrs Hewitt 1, Mrs I. Savage 2, Miss Stevens 3; jar of gooseberries, Mrs Whiteman 1, Mrs Hewitt 2, Mrs F. Bell 3,
