SUCCESSFUL XMAS NOVELTY SHOOT
Members of the Taneatua Defence Rifle Club turned out in force to support the Whakatane Legion Miniature Rifle Club Christmas novelty shoot held on Saturday. In the serious shooting Taneatua A, J. Jennings, J. T. Barr, A. Eggleton, and L. Davies, tied with Whakatanp, C. T. Bathe, R. Bell, E. R. Hunt and W. Tyssen, with a total of 357 points each. The most popular novelty was rabbit shooting, and members were amazed at the number of fully grown rabbits it is possible to miss at 45 yards. A. G. Judd and L. Davies tied with a total of 55 points ecah, and Judd was successful in the shoot off.
The “Own Start” sweepstake was keenly contested, resulting in a tie between three shooters, C. T. Bathe, being successful on the count back for the highest points off the rifle. Both the Club trophies, the junior pennant and silver spoon were won by R. Bell. Scores were:—
