Seamen Without Ships
Fifty per cent of crews are out of work because of the decrease, due. to a number of factors, of the ships under the Chilian flag, the professional syndicate of steamship crews declared in a petition to President Gabriel Gonbalez Vjdela. The petition said the present system by which members take turns at the jobs offered was no longer sufficient to sustain them and their families. v
