XMAS CARNIVAL COMMITTEE PLANS HOLIDAY EVENTS

The Whakatane Christmas Carnival Committee swung into action again last night when plans were * prepared to hold the annual carni- • val at Whakatane over the Christmas and New Year holiday period. Various committe.es were elected to control the different events and a programme of suggested activities was prepared. Attended by about 15 businessmen last night’s meeting worked out an attractive programme, and cn each of the holidays there will be something for everyone in Whakatane. At present dances on most nights, cricket and bowling days and picnic launch trips to Whale Island have definitely been arranged. In addition on December 21 the com-j mittee plans to hold the children’s fancy dress procession again in the afternoon and at 4 p.m. will entertain all' children to a party at tiie winter show building until 7i p.mL Other activities were planned but no finality has yet been reached in \ some. The committee will work in with any other show or carnival that may be taking place in ther* town or at Ohope over the holidays. The popular attraction last year —the spotting competition will be M held again. , ; '
