Fines For Excessive Speeding

Several cases of operating (overloaded heavy motor vehicles, and exceeding maximum speed limits, were dealt with by Mr E. L. Walton, S.M., in the Whakatane Magistrate’s Court yesterday. lan Douglas was fined £3 costs 10s for exceeding a maximum speed of 30 miles per hour at Onepu. For exceeding the 30 m.p.h. limit in the Whakatane Borough Malcom Rae Thompson was fined £2 costs 16s. Ernest Roy Stokes was fined' £3, costs 12s for overloading, while on two similar charges Hall and Stewart Ltd. (Mr Otley) were fined £3 costs 10s ini either case. On a similar charge the Tunnicliffe Timber Coy. Ltd. (Mr Buddie) were fined £1 costs £l.
