Soldier Becomes An Official Mother
Ex-staff sergeant E. J. Longworth, aged 64, of Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, has become an official mother.
For six months Longworth had drawn £2/5/- a week Social Service sick benefit, but. payment suddenly ceased.
Officials explained his certificate had been mislaid, so they sent him a new one—to draw five guineas maternity benefit.
