Lucerndale Pigs Attract Buyers From Wide Area
The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd., report a successful pig sale of Mr Fred Discombe’s Lucerndale Stud at Cambridge last Wednesday. A large and-represen-tative bench of buyers attended from throughout the Waikato, Whakatane, Bay of Plenty, Taranaki, Auckland and North Auckland districts. \ /
Some of the better prices were:—
Berkshire Sows: W. Sexton, Puketaha, 26gns; W. Tavener, Morrinsville, 23gns; R. Cooper, Hoe-o-tai-nui, 26gns; W. T. Clarke, Hoe-o-tainui, 21 and 22gns; M. F.' Khan, Ngongotaha, 21gns; McMeekan and Sons, Te Puke, 2 at 19gns, 1 at 23 gns; Searle and Sons, Monovale, 22 gns; .Smaller sows 15 to 18gns. Berkshire boars were in keen demand, the line clearing at 14gns, unmatured gilts at 12gns. Large Black Sows: W. C. Cheyneweth, Pukeroro, 2 at 20gns; A. C. Shanks, Tauranga, 23gns; P. O’Grady, Morrinsville, 1 at 20gns; L. M. Perry, Koromatua, sow 20gns. The better Large Black boars ranged from 15 to 18gns and were in keen demand, the top priced animal going to Levin. Duroc Jerseys: There was very strong demand for this breed and while no high prices were paid, the majority sold from 15 to 25gns. H. Ferguson, Waitoa, 2 at 21gns,’ M. F. j Caie, Rukuhia, sow 22gns; A. B. Wheeler, Waitakarau, 2 sows at 20 gns; Ruston, Morrinsville, sow 22 gns; W. Risi, Hawera, 25 and J. S. Gay, Tirau, 20gns; unmated 4 months 12 to 15gns. Duroc boaVs 15 to 18gns. , Tamworth Sows: Fred Berg, Dargaville, 20gns; D. Shaw, Frankton, 21gns. Tamworth boars to 18gns. Crossbreds were in keen demand, ranging from 9 to 14gns. About 300 pigs were disposed of.
