Children Entertain At Final Meeting Of Awakeri W.D.F.F .
At the last meeting of the year of the Awakeri Women’s Division there was a good attendance and members followed with interest the items of singing, recitations, and choral speaking presented by some of the junior pupils of the Awakeri School, under the leadership of Mr P. T. Church.
A roll call for improvements for branch meetings to be incorporated irt next year’s programme was responded to very well though many members expressed satisfaction with the existing management of the branch.
The extra competition for the day was a hospital box of flowers, the entries being sent into the Whakatane Hospital. j Results of competitions: Mrs; L. Carter 1, Mrs McKenzie 2, Mrs Brizzle 3; best flower, Mrs Graham 1, Mrs Burr 2, Mrs Carter 3; best fruit, Mrs Fabish 1, Mrs McKenzie 2, Mrs Carter 3; best vegetable, Mrs Brizzle 1, Mrs McKenzie 2, Mrs Carter 3.
The meeting concluded with the president, Mrs N. Carter, wishing members the compliments of the season and a happy holiday time until the resumption of meetings in February.
