WINTER SHOW TO PROCEED WITH AMALGAMATION
A decision to recommend to the incoming committee that it proceed with the proposed amalgamation with the Whakatane and Rangitaiki A. and P. Society but to avoid any possibility of the Winter Show Association losing its identity, was reached at the annual meeting of the Bay of Plenty Winter Show Association at Whakatane last night. This followed a long and full discussion of the question during which the possibility of the Association co-operating with the proposal to establish a community centre in the town was also referred to. It was felt however, that the first thing to be faced was the amalgamation, which should come as soon as possible, i Officers elected:—
President, Mr H. G. Warren; vicepresident, Mr F. M. Abbott; treasurer, Mr C.-G. Caisley; committee, Messrs L. R. Spring, C. R. Whittle, G. Kemp, A. Burgess, W. H. Whittaker, G. Otlev, Cleaver, G. A. WilkeS, C. E. Thatcher, W. Howat, S. Cave and A. Hall; auditors, Messrs Prideaux, Bridger and Alexander; secretary, Mr R. Cobbe.
