Nukuhou North W.I. Monthly Meeting

j The monthly meeting of the Nukuhou W.I. was held in the school, presided over by Mrs McGillivray. The secretary, Mrs Macdonald, gave a full and interesting report on the bi-annual council meeting held at Otakiri recently. Mrs R. 'Bell gave a demonstration on smocking, members being shown different stitches. The roll call was A Poem Learnt at School. Mrs H. Spanhake sang two songs. Mrs C. J. Menzies was welcomed as a new member. The musical competition, arranged by Mrs M. King, was won by Mrs Spanhake. Competition results:— Machined apron, Mrs Craig 1, Mrs I. Savage 2, Mrs Robinson and Mrs Cranswick, 3 equal; best vegetable, Mrs Cranswick 1, Mrs King 2, Mrs I. Savage 3; best multiple flower, Mrs Sinclair 1, Mrs King and Mrs Cranswicw, equal 2; single flower, Mrs I. Savage 1, Mrs Menzies 2, Mrs B. Wilson 3; 3 pikelets, Mrs King 1, .Mrs Sinclair 2, Mrs N. Craig 3. The balance sheet for the dance held in Waimana recently for institute funds, showed a profit of just over £2O, a splendid effort.
