W.I. Federation Wants Items Of Early History
An executive meeting of the E.8.P.F.W.1. was held in the Borough -Council Chambers, Whakatane, Mrs McCallion presiding ovec. a full representation of members. The president thanked Mrs Brown and Mrs Bowden for their gifts of competitions held at the bi-annual council meeting. Mrs Stewart presented a financial statement. It was decided to ask for criticisms from judges at future Eisteddfods. Each institute in the Federation is to be aked to collect any items of early local history of the Bay of Plenty district with the idea of printing a booklet. A prize will be given the Institute with the best collection of articles. Items will be gladly received 'from anyone possessing stories of the early days. It was decided to hold the Drama Festival in the last week of May at Waimana. Mrs Withy to be the convener.
